The system identified the new hardware, and asked if I wanted to install the drivers. I answered "no", and instead thought I would use "System Restore", to reinstall both the drivers and software. Problem was, that when I booted up the system froze! Now, whenever I boot up, the system runs POST, shows the Xp loading screen, with the blue bar going back and to, but remains like that indefinitely, with no further HDD activity. If I boot into safe mode the following happens. The safe mode screen appears, with the build no.

The same happens if I try and restore the system to last known working point! Please help as soon as possible - I'm desperate!! Is it possibly due to my SATA drivers? I used to have problems getting the pc to recognise my new SATA drive. The issue was resolved a couple of weeks ago, but I don't know whether the system has rolled back to before that time?

I've tried everything I can think if to no avail Joined Feb 19, Messages 8, Try booting with the CD, use the recovery options. It may be that the hardware isn't compatable with xp. Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately I've still no joy. Tried the memory in another pc - it worked no problem.

Tried using XP Recovery console.. If I install the drivers under this system i come to a coomand prompt, and can list contents of HDD no problem, but I'm not sure what to do next. If I reboot I'm back to square one. If it helps, the blue screen of death states several other codes, problem is it reboots before I can get time to write them down!!

Any ideas? I don't think the problem is related to the hardware being incompatible with xp, as it was working before I messed around with the system! Triple6 Rob. Joined Dec 26, Messages 52, I think you should try a Repair Installation.

Joined May 6, Messages 1, Carl, is it possible that the motherboard is having issues itself this time? Shut down the system. Install ONLY one stick and try to boot the system.

If it does NOT work, try it again. Keep doing this until you have a failure. Whatever causes the failure is the problem. If you have another power supply to try, try it. End process on the remaining msiexec processes, ending the one belonging to System last.
